2015 saw Eva Bindere,
Kristīne Blaumane and Reinis Zariņš form a trio and perform at events marking Latvia’s
Presidency of the Council of the European Union in London and the Autumn
Chamber Music Festival held by Latvijas Koncerti agency. The trio’s name
contains a allusion to the statue of the goddess Pallas Athena traditionally
erected in the ancient citadels as a sign of protection. A protecting trio?
With their hundred-percent commitment to music, their wisdom and limitless
musical skills, the three excellent musicians are able to conjure up any
illusion of a protective veil. The trio is going to present a classic piano
trio programme with a contemporary yet suitably romantic interruption in the
shape of Romantic Music, a piece by the Latvian composer Pēteris Plakidis who is
marking an important anniversary in 2017. It will be performed back-to-back
with two classic and very beautiful canonical opuses dating from the 19th
century.
